  She used a cross, rather than sign the marriage certificate. Also on David's birth certificate. In the 1851 Census her birthplace is given as Shoreditch, though everything else points to this being the correct family. I didn't find any Sarah Playles born in Shoreditch at the FRC, but this information from the IGI fits perfectly.
