The oldest boy boy at the back Arthur, and the other boy John. Then the babe in arms would be the second Winifred (Winnie).

• Notes

  On the web site for Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, there is a bit of history. When it was Hyderabad Medical School, teaching in Urdu, in 1888 a Chloroform Commission was set up (with the Nizam's blessing) to study the effect of Chloroform on dogs.They did pioneer work, and one of the commission members was Mr A Chamarette. The leader of the commission was Dr Laurie.The Medical School was set up in 1846 by the Nizam, deliberately using Urdu to encourage native doctors, from the sound of it. Since Arthur was Assistant Surgeon HH Nizam's service in 1887 when he married, this is almost certain to be him. He would have been 27 years old, so quite junior. Arthur Mitchell (other researcher) confirms this. I haven't been able to find his baptism - the date of birth is that given on the St Georges Church web site, and confirmed by his marriage certificate - he was 27 in 1887. Chadarghat is now Chadherghat (according to St Georges Church) and is in the cityof Hyderabad. Norman Chamarette says he had a wonderful military funeral at Hyderabad.

It would seem logical that he was shipped back to England for his education. After receiving his degree he would have returned to India. Further records indicate that he served as: Major, HEH in the Nizam's Own 3rd. Infantry. [S42] Other Researchers - Jack Hudson, via Kerry Edwards. He was 27, Assistant Surgeon, HH Nizam's Service, she was 22 - quite old. Chadarghat is now Chadherghat (according to St Georges Church) but from other sources it is Chaderghat. It is in the city of Hyderabad. The Rev Henry Fitzpatrick, Minister and Chaplain of St George's Church, performed this marriage. He was the first chaplain, 1875 to 1895.
