  [S41] Other Researchers - Christopher Browne & cousin Mary Hilton. I distrust this one. When John Shorter and Mary Burford had their first child the parish record for baptism give no date of baptism and stated that John was a dissenter. No marriage appears for them, which ties up with this - they would be married outside the C of E. There was another John Shorter who married a widow, Hannah Messenger, in 1783 in Bloxham in the C of E. This must be the John Shorter who married Susan Hitchcox. He is given as a widower. [S85] Oxfordshire Parish Marriage Index. I have not put the children in as I think this is not really in our tree. They were John 1804, Sarah Emma 1806, William 1807 and George 1809. When this John grew up he was a butcher and had children Susan 1827, John 1829 and Frederick 1833.
